Food Safety

FSSC 22000 is a globally recognised Food Safety Management System based on existing ISO standards, sector-specific technical specifications for prerequisite programmes, HACCP, legislation and the Codex HACCP principles.

The FSSC 22000 standard was the first global standard for the entire food industry. In 2009, the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognised FSSC 22000 as equivalent to standards such as BRC Food version 6 and IFS version 6. GFSI is a global initiative established in 2000 by leading retailers and food companies, including Tesco, Walmart, Metro, Carrefour, Migros, Royal Ahold, Loblaw and Delhaize, with the aim of harmonising food safety certification.

The FSSC 22000 scheme is managed by the Foundation FSSC 22000 and operates under Dutch law as a non-profit legal entity.

Feed Safety

GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practices. The current GMP+ Feed Certification Scheme was launched in 1992 and has since developed into a comprehensive certification scheme through the integration of ISO quality management requirements, HACCP and other elements. The + represents the integration of HACCP: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.

The GMP+ system is based in part on continuous improvement according to the Deming cycle: Plan, Do, Check, Act. In practice, this means documenting what you do, doing what you have documented and providing evidence that it has been carried out effectively.

With more than 13,400 participating companies in over 70 countries, GMP+ International is a leading global organisation in feed safety assurance certification. A GMP+ certificate demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and feed safety for companies operating within the international feed industry.

EU Organic / Skal

The European Union has established the principles of organic farming in legislation, including strict controls to protect both producers and consumers. Every company that produces, processes, packages, imports, trades or stores organic products must be certified, ensuring that the entire supply chain is properly controlled.

An independent organisation supervises organic production on behalf of the government. In the Netherlands, Skal Biocontrole is the designated control authority, identified by the code NL-Bio-01.

Entrepot-C

Goods entering the customs territory of the European Union (EU) from outside the EU can be stored under customs supervision. This is known as customs warehousing. Under this arrangement, import duties and other import taxes are not payable while the goods remain under customs supervision. In addition, certain trade and agricultural policy measures, import prohibitions and restrictions may not apply. There are several options for storing goods under customs supervision, but a customs authorisation is always required.

A Type C customs warehouse is a private customs warehouse. This means that only the warehouse operator can place goods into storage. The goods do not have to be owned by the operator; goods can also be stored on behalf of third parties. In such cases, the warehouse operator remains responsible to the customs authorities for the goods in storage and is also responsible for providing the required customs guarantee.
